What is FYCTE?
Finding Your Center Through Expansion
I created FYCTE (Finding Your Center Through Expansion) when I was struggling with my latest high ankle sprain. After 2 decades of playing soccer, I had over 5 serious ankle sprains on each ankle, a torn ACL (repaired with screws and a piece of my hamstring), and dozens of other minor ligament injuries. My ankles and knees felt like they were held together by worn out rubber bands.
I watched all the videos I could and researching all about physical health and rehabilitation and mobility. I got inspired by Yoga, physical therapy exercises, strength training, and more fringe methods like the primal movements of Ido Portal.
Then one day it just clicked.
I was practicing some of the exercises I had learned while under the effects of a homemade medicinal medicine, then I stopped to ask myself a question.
"What is a way to sum up my goal for my physical health?"
Then answer I heard in the thought realm was: "I want to be able to have control and strength throughout the greatest 'Sphere of Influence' I can have."
The thoughts kept streaming in. I saw myself reaching in all directions as far as I could, with every body part I could, from every position I could balance. To simplify, I visualized reaching in circles in a grid, like the lines of latitude and longitude on a sphere. Vertical circles going on planes around, and horizontal circles on planes going up and down.
As I started practicing some of the forms, I realized it was helping my body become more interconnected, helping my body and muscles communicate, and coordinate better than other exercises had so far.
With the reach being the guiding focal point, there is less of a need for direct coaching.
